It was lovely and sunny this morning so we decided to get out for a walk along the canal. We were a bit delayed because Fiona and Nanna couldn't seem to get moving and then we got a call from Pa but we finally made it out to the Basingstoke Canal Visitor Centre. We had some lunch out there and Joshie fell asleep in the car on the way home which was very cute.
Fiona had high hopes for getting in another swim in the afternoon but in the end we opted for a "quiet afternoon in". It felt very much like Nanna Hazel was with us as we pulled out the cooking utensils and set out hands to some cupcakes and banana cake. Fiona thought it was VERY funny when Nanna gave Joshua the eggs - without supervision. But despite a couple of thumbs blasting into eggs and eggs exploding into bowls we managed to avoid (nearly) any eggshell making it into our creations :) Apart from the egg cracking success, Joshie also finally got the hang of using the mixers (which he previously hated because of the "big noise" they made) and licking the bowls (and spoons and benchtops). Nanna and Fiona had a ball but seemed to recall the experience being a lot more simple and a lot less messy when Nanna Hazel was in charge of the baking!!
After baking was finished Fiona got working on dinner while Joshua and Nanna had a bit of playtime and storytime together...and a bit of licking each other!! At the end of the day, Joshie got to enjoy the fruits of his labours and had a chocolate cupcake for dessert as he watched "Grandpa in my Pocket". He was pretty exhausted by his sterling efforts.
