First Trip to Pub - Saturday 30 May

Shopping today. Lionel and Pa bought a wallpaper stripper and some painting stuff so Pa can get started on Joshua's bedroom decoration. That was so exhausting we all needed some sustenance so next stop was a pub lunch. We didn't need a buggy because Nanna and Pa didn't let go of Joshua during the whole meal.

Thursday 28 May

Rachel came to visit Fi and Joshua today. In the picture she's holding Josh in the "Superman Lift" which he very much enjoyed.

Joshua didn't sleep much last night :( Lionel and Fi are REALLY hoping that he makes up some of that lost sleep today!!

Jo also came to visit and she brought some lunch with her. She got a little cuddle from Joshua but he was a little unsettled so unfortunately it wasn't a very long cuddle. We have our fingers crossed that Jo goes into labour tonight!!!

Thank you Heather for the dressing gown for Joshua. We think it makes him look a little like Yoda :)

Wednesday 27 May

Lionel went back to work today :( But only 2 more sleeps until Nanna and Pa arrive!!!

Today Joshua was dressed by Lionel and Fi's bible study group. So he was wearing a really groovy "big boy" top and trousers to meet his Uncle Robert for the first time. Joshua seemed to like curling up in Uncle Robert's arms and it seems that Joshua may have given Uncle Robert his first smile.

Fiona had to go to the physiotherapist today. Which meant putting Joshua in the car seat, folding up the stroller, putting the stroller in the car and getting Joshua in and out of the stroller all on her own for the first time ... and in the rain!!! Joshua was very good and didn't even wake up despite Fiona's fumbling attempts to complete all the above tasks.

Tuesday 26 May

Today Joshua was dressed in one of the outfits which Katie (one of Fi's work mates) bought for him. Actually he ended up wearing BOTH of the outfits because the first one got ... a little wet :)

Lionel's last day of paternity leave today. Fi and Joshua are going to REALLY miss him tomorrow!!!!! It's been so great having him at home.

We had another tough day today. Joshua just fed and fed and fed. We think he might be going through a bit of a growth spurt so he's making sure Fi is producing enough milk to meet his needs. Man, it tires a girl out!!!

Lots of emails from the NCT girls today. That's been really helpful - reassuring Fi that all are experiencing ups and downs. And it's been great to be able to ask questions and share ideas about babies and each other.

You will notice an interesting picture above which looks like a snake made out of garbage bags. This is the end result of our "nappy wrapper" just before Lionel took it outside to its final resting place. He thought it looked like a "poo snake". You can see why Fi is going to miss him when he goes back to work.

Monday 25 May

Wearing fantastic new orange outfit from Heather today. And getting lots of cuddles from Fiona, Lionel and all the residents of Bakersgate (Grandma Liz, Pippa, James and Oliver) as a result.

And Julie's flowers (from the Isles of Scilly) looking better and better each day as the lilies open up beautifully.
