Wednesday 13 May

Wednesday didn't start very well because Fi missed Joshua overnight. All the other ladies in her room had their little babies with them and she really wanted Joshua with her. Fi was very sad when she went up to see Joshua in the morning and lovely Jo sat her down in a comfy chair and lay Joshua on her and they had 2 whole hours just ... cuddling.

But Wednesday improved and ended up being a GREAT day for us!!!! That was because after Fi and Joshua's marathon cuddling session, Joshua got discharged from NICU and sent to a special room in the Antenatal Ward called the Transitional Care Room. Fi was then moved from her room (Room 3) to the TCR (Room 5) and we were all reunited. When Joshua had been wheeled down to Fi's bed in the new room, Li and Fi sat on her bed looking at Joshua in his cot. One of the nurses, Ann, walked over, put her hand on Fi's shoulder and said, "He's yours. You can pick him up if you like." The spell broke and Li and Fi realised that it was time for a bit more cuddling therapy so Lionel lay down on Fi's bed and had his own 2 hour cuddle. The other ladies in the TCR laughed at Lionel a lot because they wondered who was the patient. He told them he felt he was recovering well.
Lionel's uncle, Mark (now "Grandpa Mark"), visited in the afternoon which was lovely. He was the first in the Newcombe clan to get a proper cuddle. He and Joshua got along very well. After Mark's visit he and Lionel returned to Bakersgate to celebrate James and Oliver's 10th birthday with a cake. Lionel was very glad to have a break from the hospital (and the hospital food). Fi was also very, very grateful for the bit of birthday cake she got :)
